Another pretty obvious use of virtual worlds in education is the ‘virtual field trip’. It is probably the most common educational idea that is presented in VR marketing today, so if you’re in the VR industry you’ve probably seen videos and images promoting this idea: you’re going to take your students to ‘virtual twins’ of places that would be otherwise impossible to go: into outer space, or back in time to Ancient Rome, or to a rainforest or even, having shrunk down to the size of a single cell organism, on an action adventure rollercoaster ride through a human circulatory system.
